Ethiris VMS 8.0 - Launched Today

Ethiris VMS Ethiris VMS, is today the obvious choice for customers and system integrators who want a user friendly and reliable software with high performance, great flexibility and high quality. With version 8.0 of Ethiris, we consolidate the position as the most cost-effective VMS on the market. Our development department has worked hard and efficiently with the new version and has, for example, streamlined our product to the limit and hence increased the performance of the video player in Ethiris Client, up to 100 times. The tremendous enhancement of the performance has made it possible to increase the number of concurrent cameras in the Player to 64. In connection to the release of version 8.0, we have also increased the maximum number of connected cameras at level Premium to 200 cameras per server.

 
Ethiris Server, Ethiris Client and Ethiris Admin are now 64 bit applications. Among other things, this means that Ethiris can address very much memory which can be used to, for example, pre alarm at recording and buffering in the Player. More intriguing news is that from version 8, all client configurations are handled by Ethiris Server. From Ethiris Client you can browse available servers on the network, and thus get access to the client configurations. Furthermore, this means that you can also set authorization requirements on different client configurations, in order for authorized personnel only to access them.

We continue our venture on ONVIF and in connection to the new release we also release support for ONVIF events. Characteristically this can be used to receive analyze information from connected cameras, such as for example LPR where, for instance, registration plates can be sent to Ethiris via ONVIF events. It is a very general system where Ethiris doesn’t require advance knowledge what the information sent from the cameras look like, but one can configure Ethiris to react on current information.

A crucial part of a VMS is the authorization system. We have now supplemented this in Ethiris with native users and user groups. Just like before, it’s possible to connect user groups to different user operations in Ethiris to determine who will access what in Ethiris. It’s now possible to choose both Windows user groups and Ethiris user groups in order to connect to user operations.

The use of the UDP protocol toward cameras has been tremendously simplified since Ethiris automatically opens up a potential firewall for the traffic via so called hole punching. Our amazing script engine has become even more amazing thanks to new functions, for example ‘SaveImage’, that saves the actual image from an desired camera to a file on disk, and a whole new  ’Date’ object to facilitate the handling of dates in script. Ethiris has for a long period of time contained a camera simulator that can be used in demos of the system. Now, we have produced an entirely new version of the camera simulator which supports H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG. You can easily create your own simulator video clips by exporting video from the Player in Ethiris Client to Ethiris’ own export format. The simulator has direct support for this file type.

In connection to the release of Ethiris VMS 8.0 in the beginning of October, we will deliver Ethiris NVR with the new version of Ethiris VMS preinstalled.
