A lift for Kungsfågeln with
WideQuick HMI panels

During 2022, Nordkonsult El & Automation i Luleå AB put the final touches on a project carried out for Kungsfågeln High School Village, located in Luleå Municipality. They needed their building control and monitoring equipment modernising. Nordkonsult supplied 11 WideQuick HMI panels from Kentima with the WideQuick BMS concept installed.

Nordkonsult’s Kungsfågeln High School Vil-lage project is one of several done for Luleå Municipality in which Nordkonsult installed Kentima products. The project involved the replacement of the control systems (SAIA PLC), which controls the ventilation and heating in campus buildings, whilst retaining input and output modules from the previous system.

Nordkonsult is a Kentima partner, and, as a systems integrator, the company provides qualified consultancy services and turnkey solutions to technical and industrial compa-nies. They have extensive experience of the industry and have worked with Kentima for many years. They are very satisfied with the products, which is why Kentima’s WideQuick BMS concept and modern WideQuick HMI Panels were their first choice to use in this particular project.

The control systems were replaced in order to enable the implementation of Ethernet communication between both the new systems and with the existing iFIX superordina-te system, resulting in a communication flow that was significantly smoother than before.

Luleå Upper Secondary School stretches over four blocks, Hackspetten, Lärkan, Örnen, and Kungsfågeln, which collectively form the Luleå High School Village campus. The school has a little over 2,400 students, making it one of the biggest upper secondary schools in Sweden in terms of student numbers.


”The ability to easily establish remote connections between panels is one of several important advantages of using Kentima HMI panels in this project,” says Viktor Harnesk, Automation Engineer, Nordkonsult.


The existing 11 operator panels were replaced with HMI panels - eight H511 10.1” panels and three H516H 15.6” panels. The HMI panels can connect to each other remotely, which makes the work of operations staff much easier. Kentima’s WideQuick BMS property concept was installed in the HMI panels. Completely new operator views have been produced in connection with the switch to WideQuick BMS, and around 50 frequency converters were replaced when the rest of the system was updated.

WideQuick BMS (Building Management System) is Kentima’s building automation concept. The concept comprises three basic projects with associated object libraries, WideQuick HVAC, WideQuick BMS, and WideQuick BMS SCADA. These basic projects have been developed in a way that enables systems integrators to quickly and easily build custom monitoring and visualisation of various systems in a property or even in an entire facility portfolio.

WideQuick HMI/SCADA Box and WideQuick HMI/SCADA Panel is part of a complete system for creating different types of monitoring with associated user interfaces and communication with external units. WideQuick Designer is used to quickly and easily create and configure various different HMI, SCADA, or PSIM applications.
