Silja Europa chooses WideQuick for the thrill

Bars Elekter OÜ in Estonia has installed WideQuick HMI/SCADA on board Silja Europa, a cruise ship sailing between Helsinki and Tallinn. The main purpose is to provide alarm and status information to maintain a safe and efficient operation of the high voltage shore connection system (HVSC) on land.

Silja Europa is the Baltic Sea’s largest cruise ship and has endless options to offer, not only the all-round maritime feel and the eight different cabin options but also fantastic food and great shopping.

The cruise ship Silja Europa has, among other things, provided accommodation during the UN’s 26th climate conference (COP26) which took place in Glasgow, Scotland. It offered accommodation and catering services to about 1,500 people consisting of staff and guests. The cruise ship was chartered via the company Landry & Kling Global Cruise Services with full technical and service staffs from Tallink Grupp during the entire charter period.

Bars Elekter is an electrical installation and service provider that undertakes assign-ments for the international shipping, offshore and shipbuilding industries and has been recommended to use Kentima’s WideQuick HMI/SCADA on the cruise ship for monitoring and control of the basic functions of the system. The main purpose of the system is to give ship officers all the basic alarm and status information they require to maintain safe and efficient operation of the high voltage shore connection system.

Bars Elekter became a partner of Kentima after one of their controller programmers heard about Kentima and was recommended WideQuick for this type of project. They used an installer who has worked with various SCADA systems before and it was quick and easy for him to implement WideQuick.
