Northern Skåne increases safety
with Ethiris VMS

Trygghets- och Räddningscentralen i Skåne Nordost AB (Safety and Rescue Center) monitors and controls various facilities in the municipalities of north-eastern Skåne. For camera surveillance, Ethiris VMS from Kentima is successfully used, which allows the operator to quickly make the right decision and take the appropriate action.

Trygghets- och Räddningscentralen i Skåne Nordost AB (TRC) is a joint company for six municipalities in north-eastern Skåne.

For the purpose of supervision and control of the facilities, for example in the municipality of Kristianstad, the TRC manages camera surveillance, the dispatch of rescue resources and personal and safety alarms. For example, TRC receives emergency calls via SOS Alarm and alerts the emergency services.

Ethiris VMS from Kentima is successfully used for camera surveillance and allows the operator to quickly make the right decision and take the appropriate action.

Presom Säkerhet AB, partner to Kentima, is the integrator in the project and is responsible for the configuration and installation of Ethiris VMS. Presom has delivered customised security solutions since 1997 and is involved all the way from needs analysis, project planning, installation and commissioning to service and maintenance.

Throughout the municipality, there are a large number of facilities that are safely and effectively monitored with Ethiris VMS. The system, which is extremely scalable, is currently dimensioned for 600 cameras. The broad camera support available in Ethiris VMS means that the large mix of camera brands works well together in the system. The facilities managed in the system are many and include schools, town halls and other municipal properties. With the Active Directory (AD) function, specific authorisation requirements have been defined, which means that, for example, the various principals are entitled to see the cameras for their respective schools, while the TRC can see them all.

“The alarm operator function we get with Ethiris VMS means that we can run the Security Centre as we want. The fact that it is so scalable also creates a great added value for us when more cameras will be connected”, says Caroline Reimers, Head of Security Protection, Trygghets- och Räddningscentralen i Skåne Nordost AB.

In front of the operators there is a large video wall where the interface consists of relevant parts such as live video from local cameras, map and common alarm list. As soon as an alarm is activated in a facility, it is displayed in the common alarm list in one of the video wall, while cameras associated with the alarm are displayed. The operators actively select the alarm via a simple click of a button. When an alarm is picked by an operator, it disappears from a common alarm list, just like the images from the live cameras.

Depending on the facility, alarms are triggered in different ways. For example, there are thermal cameras, video analysis or PTZ cameras. With Ethiris VMS extensive support for integration with other systems, even alternative alarm detections can be used.

Ethiris VMS is extremely scalable and it is easy to expand a facility by adding camera licences to existing servers, or adding new servers to increase capacity. With this in mind, TRC has built the system and prepared for the connection of multiple cameras.
