Modern WideQuick HMI Panel
protects the old
The National Archives of Sweden has undergone an extensive transformation that has seen its buildings expanded and renovated. AB Stureby Styr & Reglerservice received a request for an installation of climate control equipment in the buildings. They opted for Kentima’s WideQuick HMI Panel H516, which could satisfy the stringent demands the Archives placed on climate in the building.
The National Archives of Sweden looks after and preserves the collective memory of the Swedish people. It houses more than 750 km of documents in an area that encompasses the equivalent of four aircraft hangars. The archive contains everything from letters signed by Gustav Vasa to estate inventories of private individuals in more modern times. After two years of project time, the reconstruction of the old archive was complete and the new building was ready to use. Because the archive contains books and documents that date from as early as the 13th century, the project was subject to stringent requirements in respect of temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Harry Jokelainen of AB Stureby Styr & Reglerservice, a partner of Kentima, decided that Kentima’s WideQuick HMI Panel operator panels and SAIA PLC would be the perfect choice to satisfy these exacting requirements. They decided to go with five WideQuick HMI Panel H516. The applications in the operator panels were developed using WideQuick BMS, Kentima’s comprehensive building automation concept.
”It’s a special building that is subject to stringent installation and air requirements, which WideQuick HMI/SCADA can handle without any problem,” says Harry Jokelainen, Project Manager, AB Stureby Styr & Reglerservice.
AB Stureby Styr & Reglerservice carries out electrical installations, as well as command and control installations, troubleshooting, and repair. They also build control cabinets for property automation, e.g. heating and fan control for remote monitoring. The old part of the building had four existing control cabinets that needed updating, whilst new control equipment needed to be installed in the new building. Kentima’s WideQuick HMI/SCADA software acts as a bridge between the new and the old.
All operational information from ventilation, cooling, and humidity systems is monitored and controlled from WideQuick HMI/SCADA. If, for example, the system detects excessive humidity, an alarm is activated in WideQuick HMI/SCADA, which is seen by relevant personnel in their tablets or displays and can take immediate action to resolve the problem.
AB Stureby Styr & Reglerservice has undergone training given by Kentima and report that they are very satisfied with both the products and the quality of the training given. The installation has worked superbly well and where support has been needed, they got the help they required quickly and easily.
”Operational staff and managers both say that the system has really enhanced the property management experience,” says Harry Jokelainen, Project Manager, AB Stureby Styr & Reglerservice
Kentima offers a wide range of operator units aimed at different industries and environments where the differing needs of buildings impose some unique requirements. They can be ordered as WideQuick HMI Panels and WideQuick SCADA Panels, or as WideQuick HMI Box and WideQuick SCADA Box.
