WideQuick Licensing
Getting started with WideQuick should be easy. If you want the fastest route to a complete system, we recommend our hardware solutions – Operator Panels and Operator Boxes – robust computers with WideQuick pre-installed and pre-licensed, ready to use straight out of the box.
If you prefer to install WideQuick on your own hardware, you will need to license the product yourself. We offer two licensing models to suit different needs: General for those who want to buy once, and Universal for those who want a flexible subscription.

General – one-time cost with no recurring fees
General is our traditional licensing model. You purchase a license that gives you the right to use a specific version of the software, or alternatively a license that gives you the right to update the software for 5 years. The license is tied to the target system on which WideQuick Runtime runs. There are no recurring fees when you purchase a General license, making it a good choice if you have a stable installation where requirements don't change very often, although you can always upgrade the license.
General is particularly well suited for systems without internet access, such as local networks that are not connected to the internet or installations behind a DMZ or air gap.
When ordering, you choose three things: feature level, number of external tags/variables and whether you want five years of free updates.
Feature level – General is available in the levels Extended, Advanced and Premium, with increasing functionality. See the license tables at the top of the page for a detailed comparison of what is included in each level.
Number of external tags/variables – You select the number of external tags and variables you need, which determines how many data points you can handle at your chosen feature level.
Five years of free updates – We always recommend this version of the General license. Without it, you can still update to newer versions, but at an additional cost. With the option, you ensure free access to new versions for five years.
Each instance of WideQuick Runtime requires its own unique product code. With General, it is always one instance per computer – it is not possible to run multiple instances on the same machine.
Operating system
WideQuick can run on both Windows and GNU/Linux. Please note that the articles for General differ depending on the operating system. WideQuick can also run in a container environment.
Modifying an existing General license
In an existing installation, you can modify your license in three ways, and you can combine all three in the same order:
• Uppdatera – gå move to a newer version.
• Uppgradera – switch to a higher feature level, for example from Extended to Advanced.
• Utöka – add more external tags/variables, for example from 4096 to 8192.
All modifications are ordered through Kentima. Include a current registration code and we will ensure that the order matches your system. You will then receive an upgrade code which, together with your registration code, is used to generate a new license key via Kentima's partner pages.

Universal – a flexible subscription that grows with you
Universal is our subscription-based licensing model, giving you the right to use the latest version of the software, designed for those who want maximum flexibility. Instead of a higher one-time cost, you pay a monthly fee and commit only one quarter at a time. The licenses are not tied to a specific target system, giving you the freedom to manage and move your licenses as needed. Universal requires an Internet connection to the license server.
Adapt to your needs, at any time – You can change feature level and adjust the number of external tags/variables without having to contact Kentima. See the license tables at the top of the page for a full overview of the feature levels. Changes are reported automatically. You pay each month based on the highest feature level and the highest number of tags selected in the license during that month.
Always the latest version – Free updates are included for as long as you subscribe. You always have access to the latest version of WideQuick at no extra cost, including the latest security updates.
No upfront decisions – When you order a Universal license, you do not need to decide on feature level or number of external tags/variables in advance. You adjust as you go based on your current needs.
Containers – multiple instances on one machine
Universal gives you the ability to run multiple WideQuick Runtime instances on the same target system using containers. This means you can consolidate multiple instances onto one powerful machine instead of needing dedicated hardware for each installation. This feature is exclusive to Universal and is not available with a General license.
Centralised management
With Universal, you can centralise the management and operation of your applications via the cloud, simplifying administration – especially for organisations with a diversified infrastructure and many installations.
Modifying an existing Universal license
All modifications are made by you – no contact with Kentima is needed:
• Uppdatera – new versions are always included at no extra cost.
• Uppgradera – change feature level as needed.
• Utöka – add more external tags/variables.

Which model is right for you?
General is right for you if you run a stable installation with known requirements. You pay once, own your license and don't need to think about recurring costs. A good choice if you know which feature level and how many tags/variables you will need long term, or for systems without internet access such as local networks that are not connected to the internet or installations behind a DMZ/air gap.
Universal is right for you if you want the freedom to grow and adapt. You avoid a higher upfront cost – instead, the cost is spread over time, making it easier to get started. You scale up and down as needed, always have access to the latest version with the latest security updates, and can run multiple instances on the same machine via containers. A good choice if your infrastructure changes over time, if you have high scalability requirements or if you want to future-proof your systems. Universal requires an Internet connection.
