Ethiris VMS 9.2 - More efficient video surveillance
Our goal is that Ethiris will provide our system integrators with the most efficient tool on the market for configuring and starting up video surveillance systems. The operator, who uses Ethiris, will get client software that makes surveillance more efficient. In version 9.2 of Ethiris we have introduced several time saving features that will make Ethiris projects even more profitable for the system integrator and facilitate the work of the operator.
One such enhancement is within camera groups. In the new version you can set properties for storage and authorization directly for the camera groups. This means that you quickly and easily can change settings for many cameras at once.
Another important area within video surveillance is video storage. We have optimized video storage such as even with very large storage, the system will start up quickly after configuration updates.
Also operators need to work efficiently in their daily work. A completely new function is Instant replay. When Instant replay is activated, the current camera will be displayed in a window with two camera views. One of the views display live video from the camera and the other view displays video back in time. Hence, the operator can view what happened a while ago.
Keep on reading to find out more about these and other news in Ethiris 9.2.
Enhanced camera groups
By putting the cameras in camera groups, the user can save a lot of time since the administration of the cameras becomes much more efficient. From version 9.2 you can enter settings for storage and authorization for the camera groups. By default all the cameras in the group inherit the settings for the group. If required, you can still override the group settings for desired cameras, so the flexibility is still there. We have also introduced new variables for camera groups; EnableLive and EnableRecording. These can be used in e.g. script for controlling when the cameras in the group will be available and when they are allowed to record video. An extra feature is that pre alarm still works even though EnableRecording = false and/or EnableLive = false, which means that when recording becomes available, you can still record a certain time before the event.
Camera groups are now included in the so called Online update, which means that configuration updates involving camera groups are much faster and cameras not affected by the update keep running without interruption.
Instant replay
Occasionally the operator discovers something interesting in the live video on the monitor. By pressingBy pressing
Instant replay can also be activated via script, for example in conjunction with a certain alarm. Another alternative is that a guard could activate the function in an alarm central by pressing a button in her smart phone via Ethiris Mobile.
Enhanced Player
Long awaited news in the Player is that frame-by-frame backwards now really steps one frame at a time backwards. Before, the Player jumped one second backwards each time you clicked the frame backwards button.Another big improvement in the Player is that it now can display video from the so called pre alarm buffer. Before, you had to wait until the video was written to disk, which for technical reasons didn’t happen until the pre alarm time had elapsed. That meant that if you e.g. had 5 minutes of pre alarm time, you couldn’t watch the recorded video until after 5 minutes. Now, you can watch it immediately regardless of the pre alarm time.
Increased camera support
We continue our effort with ONVIF and can now offer H.265 via ONVIF. Since ONVIF Profile T not yet is officially released, there still are some parts not working perfectly, but most of it works just fine.Storage optimization
We have improved the storage management such as even when having large amount of storage, Ethiris starts up quickly after a configuration update. In earlier versions this could take a long time, especially in systems with large amounts of storage.New event filters
In Ethiris Client event list, you have always been able to filter on time to limit the number of events displayed in the event list. Now, we have introduced more filter possibilities: State, Object and Event. These correspond to the columns in the event list and you can now filter on all possible occurrences in the list.E.g. under Object, you can filter on various cameras in the system. You could for example filter out the number of communication errors for one or several cameras during a certain time period.
Other news
Along with increased performance in Ethiris we allow more connected cameras to each server. Now, we increase the maximum number of cameras for license level Premium from 200 to 250.There may be several reasons for video disruption for a camera. It might be a communication error, but it can also be due to planned disruptions via a schedule or some other legal reason. In earlier versions of Ethiris the latest video frame was always remaining in live views. There are obviously advantages with this approach, but it might be hard to notice that the video is disrupted. Hence, you can now choose whether the latest image should be displayed or if a black image should be displayed on video disruption.
