Ethiris NVR-1 runs exclusively at the castle

Beautiful Sundbyholms Slott (Sundbyholm Castle) chose to install an Ethiris NVR-1 with help from Lykil Säkerhet AB. The reason for installing the Ethiris system was to improve staff safety at the castle rather than supervising the TV-crew during recordings. It’s important to be able to quickly review recorded video in case of a robbery, theft or other criminal activity should occur.

Lykil Säkerhet AB is part of the Lykil concern which is a privately owned company specialising in electrical installation, building automation and security systems. They operate in the Mälardalen area west of Stockholm, covering the municipalities Eskiltuna, Strängnäs and Vingåker.

Sundbyholms Slott, which has royal connections, is privately owned and run by Sundbyholms Slott AB. The company offer conferencing, weekend getaways, private parties and a
restaurant. The castle has also been used for recording a well-known Swedish reality-TV show for the last 10 years.

Sundbyholms Slott AB has chosen Lykil Säkerhet AB as their supplier for the security systems. When the castle’s CCTV system needed updating Lykil was the obvious choice. Lykil introduced a complete solution with an open platform allowing them to integrate almost any camera, depending on the operational requirements. The main goal with installing Ethiris is to be able to quickly review recorded video in case of a robbery, theft or other criminal activity should occur. They also use Kentima’s Ethiris Mobile app which allows the staff to access the security system regardless of location.

There are currently 10 cameras placed in the castle and hotel. This means that there are two buildings with cameras connected to one central NVR-1 with 16 channels.

The mobile app is very much appreciated by the staff, which uses the app regularly. Ethiris Mobile presents a number of possibilities for managing the CCTV system. Using Ethiris Mobile it’s possible to view live video from the cameras, manually start recording video, control PTZ cameras, view the alarm list and acknowledge alarms as well as save and email images from the cameras. It’s also possible to search for and watch recorded video material.

The monitor connected to the NVR-1 shows live images from a selection of cameras so the reception staff can quickly get an overview.

Lykil have used products from a number of manufacturers through the years but have chosen Kentima. Ethiris is a well-constructed system with cutting edge technology, but still very easy to get started with. Our users are also very pleased with Ethiris and think that it is simple to understand, according to Robin Seimilä from Lykil.

We plan to install another NVR-1 in another part of the grounds. The two NVR’s will be connected to an Ethiris Cluster which means that Ethiris will continue to operate even if  one of the servers is down. The server that is still running carries on doing the other server’s work and the clients are automatically directed to the right server to retrieve images and video material.

Robin from Lykil also thinks that Kentima’s support is first class. You always get profes-sional help, sometimes the questions are relatively simple but enquiries are always handled in a respectful manner.
