Ethiris VMS provides a safe and pleasant living

AB Kristianstadsbyggen (ABK) in Sweden has installed Kentima’s Ethiris Video Management Software for surveillance in locations such as environmental houses, stairwells and shopping malls. By using Ethiris VMS and 124 cameras they have succeeded in restraining damage and can offer a safe and pleasant living in the municipality.

AB Kristianstadsbyggen (ABK) is the largest real estate company in Kristianstad, Sweden. ABK’s main purpose is to build new properties and to manage the about 9 000 residences and 246 commercial premises they already own, spread all over the Kristianstad municipality. The possession includes, besides from residences, also an Arena and commercial premises. 


The purpose of the video surveillance was primarily to decrease damage. It started by a few cameras in exposed environmental houses and thereafter the system has grown and now also includes surveillance of stairwells, shopping malls, basement corridors and exposed locations for personnel. As a result, one of the larger areas has in the summer of 2020, for the first time in a very long time, been completely spared from major incidents.


The recorded video material is monitored via Ethiris Client where selected persons from the organization can log in, identify possible incidents and when required, export video for sending to police or other appropriate authorities. At ABK, export of video, to other investigators, is the most common task. Except from that, own investigations of video material occurs and also situations where live viewing is necessary. For example in reception areas when you want to ensure that the surroundings are safe before going out or at road barriers where motorists can call an operator that verifies clearance before opening the barrier.

The flexible and unique scalability in Ethiris makes it possible to create anything from small systems to large complex applications with very high functionality. High performance has always been an important parameter in Ethiris VMS. We notice a clear trend that more and more facilities use high resolution cameras and that in turn puts a demand on higher performance in the video surveillance system. Ethiris provides the possibility to use hardware acceleration by using the graphics card and hence the performance in Ethiris is further increased, in some cases a significant improvement of performance.
