Ethiris VMS 10.2

Ethiris Video Management Software 10.2

The new version of Ethiris VMS contains exciting and very usable news. Below is a short overview of what is new.

Major news is the completely new support for audio out from a microphone connected to Ethiris Client to one or several speakers in the facility. Hence an operator can for example speak out warnings to unauthorized persons in front of the cameras. Ethiris is increasingly used in larger and larger systems and therefore we have introduced optimizations in Ethiris Admin to facilitate the management of a large number of cameras in the configuration.

Further more, we have developed the 360 camera support and the 360 format is now fully supported by Ethiris Viewer.

Audio
The completely new feature for audio in Ethiris provides the operator the possibility to speak out to one or several speakers in the facility. The operator speaks to a microphone that is connected to a computer running Ethiris Client. In the client you can choose to speak out to a specific speaker or to several different speakers at the same time. There are several different types of speakers that can be used in this context:
-A speaker that is built-in or connected to an ONVIF camera.
-A speaker that is built-in or connected to an Axis camera.
-A pure IP speaker from Axis, such as C3003.

Optimization for large systems
To facilitate the work in systems containing a large number of cameras, we have added a filter feature in the camera list in Ethiris Admin. With an active filter, only the cameras matching the filter are displayed, making the number of cameras manageable. You can filter on camera name and/or camera group.

360 in Ethiris Viewer
Dewarping of 360 cameras is now possible also in Ethiris Viewer. Upon export of a 360 camera into Ethiris’ export format the complete, round 360 video stream will be exported. To be able to playback a normal view in Ethiris Viewer of such an export file, Ethiris Viewer now provides the same features like Ethiris Client for dewarping the video.

Enhanced camera support
A wide camera support is obviously important in a VMS. In the new version of Ethiris we have introduced a number of enhancements that improves the possibility for connecting various types of cameras to Ethiris. Ethiris now supports Chroma QP and B-frames.

Virtual cameras
In version 10.0 we introduced the virtual cameras concept along with the support for 360 cameras. We have kept on working on this concept and in the new version of Ethiris you can create virtual cameras based on any fixed (not PTZ) camera you want, not only 360 cameras. Obviously, it is most useful for high resolution cameras. A virtual camera is based on a normal camera where you zoom in a part of the image and save that part as a virtual camera with a unique name. The virtual camera can be used anywhere a normal camera can be used in different contexts, for example in a camera view in Ethiris Client.

New control panel
We have modernized the user interface in Ethiris Client by introducing a completely new control panel which can be displayed in both live and the Player. The control panel contains information about the current camera and buttons for common functions. The user can herself decide whether the panel should always be displayed, always hidden or be displayed on demand.

Other news

In some systems video is displayed on one or several monitors that the operator does not work with actively. In such cases you often want to use as large portion of the display as possible. Now this is easier than ever to accomplish by using Ethiris. You have two different choices. You can configure a certain client configuration to always run in full screen mode without letting the operator change this or you can let the operator decide whether to run in full screen mode or not.
