Model Overview NVRN Rack Solutions
The rack solutions are available in three series to cover different requirements of system sizes. These are Series S (Small), Series M (Medium) and Series L (Large).
The basic idea is that the rack solution should provide all required equipment in a video surveillance facility except for the cameras. Since there are very different video storage requirements, the disks are not included in the rack solution, so they have to be ordered separately on a need-to-have basis. The disk capacity is calculated based on a RAID 5 configuration, i.e. one disk can fail without losing any video. The numbers in the table indicates maximum disk capacities based on the maximum number of 22 TB disks including an extension unit for the NAS and are given in TiB, i.e. 240 bytes which corresponds to approximately 1.1 TB. The reason for this is that the operating system uses TiB for expressing storage space on the disk.
The amount of disk space required depends on various factors such as the number of cameras, band width per camera and for how long video should be stored. For example, a Full HD resolution (1 920 x 1 080) camera, 25 frames per second and H.264 compression normally takes about 2 – 4 Mbit/s of band width. On continuous recording this means about 1 – 2 GB/hour.
If we use the higher number, 2 GB/hour, and takes the largest model of Series S as an example with 64 cameras and 140 TiB of storage space we get approximately 1.000 hours of recording per camera. That corresponds to roughly 38 days of continuous recording for all 64 cameras 24/7.
