Ethiris VMS 11.2 – Accelerating towards the future

The new version of Ethiris VMS contains several interesting news. Please download our brochure describing all the news in Ethiris VMS 11.2. Below is a short description of what’s new.

During 2020 we will be able to offer all our customers a simple and convenient connection to an alarm central. In this version we have laid the foundation for this by an extended handling of the SIA protocol. Read on to learn more about these and several other news in Ethiris 11.2. 
 
Adaptive hardware acceleration 
The fact that Ethiris now is being able to delegate some of the video decoding to the GPU, results, in many cases, in a significantly increased performance. This means that more cameras can be displayed simultaneously by using the corresponding hardware compared to earlier versions of Ethiris. But, maybe best of all, is that this feature automatically adjusts to the current load of the GPU and cameras are added to or removed from the GPU to maximize performance in the system.
SIA Server  
Kentima will provide both a primary and a secondary so called SIA Server for forwarding of desired alarms from local Ethiris systems to an alarm central. More information about this service will be provided when it is available. 
Enhancements in communication
The flexible listeners in Ethiris that are used for communication with other devices and systems via TCP or http have been improved. A new trigger type “Match length” makes it easy to retrieve all data from the device/system without having to know exactly what to look for. 
Enhancements in the Player 
The Player in Ethiris Client can now use hardware acceleration for decoding of video and hence provide better performance on any given hardware. Furthermore, we have optimized the resolution of displayed video such as recorded video is unpacked to a maximum of the resolution of the current screen. If the operator zooms digitally in an image, the maximum resolution of that camera will be retrieved from there on for providing maximum resolution whenever needed.
Enhancements in the client 
Now you can choose to hide the green rectangle that indicates which camera view got focus at the moment.
New possibilities in script 
Ethiris script is appreciated by many for its astonishing flexibility and the possibilities it provides for handling various challenges in customer projects. In the new version we introduce a completely new class called CameraCollection. It is similar to camera groups which we introduced for the first time in version 7.0. The advantage now is that a camera can be part of several different camera collections. Just like with camera groups we can handle the cameras in the collection jointly, to for example start recording. 
New alarms and variables  
As we have introduced the possibility to decode video on the GPU, we have also added alarms for exhausted GPU and CPU. We have also added a whole bunch of new variables in the datastore for various kinds of camera statistics such as current bandwidth, frame rate and the amount of recorded video. These variables can be used in Ethiris script and also be read by other systems via OPC.
