Ethiris walzed in and surveilles Den Norske Opera & Ballett
With Ethiris Video Management Software from Kentima, Den Norske Opera & Ballett can surveille the area inside the building as well as the space surrounding it.
Den Norske Opera & Ballett, drawn by the Norwegian architect office Snøhetta, was ready in 2008 located in Björvika which is an old harbour area in Oslo. Today, a total of 615 people work at Den Norske Opera & Ballett. The guards and head of security are the ones who mainly use the surveillance system and they use Ethiris both inside- and outside the building, but also in the storage facilities.After a quotation for delivery, projection and operation, Bravida Fire & Security got the order to install Ethiris in the building. Ethiris can be integrated with Bravida´s own system, Bravida Integra, through communica-tion via OPC.
The flexible functions i Ethiris were crucial to fulfill the needs of Den Norske Opera & Ballett, and primarily Bravida saw the upside to the strong support for OPC and that it was a userfriendly system. It was also a great advantage that it is a Scandinavian software and the professional support for Ethiris gave an upper hand compared to other software for video surveillance.

Thore Næss is the Operations- and Security Manager at Den Norske Opera & Ballett and have been involved during the entire project of the beautiful building. The installation of Ethiris went very smoothly, the budget and timeframe went according to plans. Thore agrees with Patrik Claesson, Bravida that Ethiris has an userfriendly interface but would also like to point out other useful functions. In the daily operation one of the most important functions is the playing of recorded video.
The absolute largest asset to Kentima´s VMS, compared to other products, are the unique functions, a wide range of camera support, support for ONVIF and the high quality. Ethiris also has a built-in support for Unicode which makes it possible for the operator to change the language at any time. Thore is very pleased with Ethiris and doesn´t lack any functions in the software.
Today, Den Norske Opera & Ballett has no plans of expanding or increasing their surveillance, but a great advantage with Ethiris is that it is easy to add more cameras if the need would occur, whithout causing major costs. The scalable system has client/server arcitecture which means that there are no boundries for how many clients one can add. Everybody involved agrees that Ethiris is high quality software and they would gladly endorse others to use it.
