Ethiris VMS 10.0 – Keep track of the surrounding world
The new version of Ethiris VMS contains a lot of smart and usable new features. Please, download our new brochure that describes all news in Ethiris VMS 10.0. Below is a short overview of the news.
By using 360-cameras (Fisheye), the number of necessary cameras in a facility can be decreased. In version 10.0 of Ethiris you can use the full potential in 360-cameras by the new dewarping function in Ethiris Client. To facilitate the work of the operator we have introduced virtual cameras in Ethiris Client. You can pre-define various dewarp modes and PTZ positions for a 360-camera and save these as virtual cameras. Then you can use the virtual cameras in live, recorded video and in Instant replay just as any other camera.Other exciting news is our enhanced support for alarm centrals that among other features includes automatic SIA-messages upon alarms or events.
Keep reading to get to know more about these and several other news in Ethiris 10.0.
Dewarping OF 360 CAMERAS
The new dewarping function in Ethiris provides full functionality for 360-cameras. A 360-camera uses only one camera license in Ethiris even though you can have an unlimited number of separate camera views from the complete 360-video stream. The camera always sends the complete (round) 360-image as just one video stream to Ethiris Server. On recording, the complete video stream is always recorded.
Ethiris Client is the one dewarping the image in live, Player and in the Instant replay window such as the user can view a normal image in the client
Virtual cameras in Ethiris Client
The purpose with virtual cameras is to pre-define a certain dewarp mode and a certain PTZ position for a 360-camera. Several virtual cameras, each one with a unique name, can be created for each 360-camera. Virtual cameras are used in Ethiris Client just as any other camera and can for example be used in pre-defined client views.Support for SIA alarm protocol
Most alarm centrals use SIA as alarm protocol. The alarm central has a receiving function for alarms that distributes and presents the alarms for the operators. Such an example is the alarm central Safe4 that also has Ethiris Client installed locally at each alarm operator. When an alarm arrives from a connected Ethiris system, the operator automatically gets live and recorded video from cameras, which are associated with the alarm, at the customer site.ONVIF Events as variables
ONVIF is a generic way of communicating with cameras which most camera brands have support for. In the concept there is a part called ONVIF Events. This part is used for sending notifications from the cameras to a VMS, such as Ethiris, when something interesting happens in front of the cameras. Most modern cameras of today contain various video analytic features. These often can generate ONVIF Events. New in this version of Ethiris is that ONVIF Events are presented as variables in Ethiris that directly can be used in for example Ethiris script.AVI-export from Viewer
Ethiris native export, that is, export of recorded video in Ethiris native format is in many ways superior to an export in AVI format. It is faster, in better quality and often also takes less space compared to an AVI export. To playback Ethiris’ export files, Ethiris Viewer is required though. Ethiris Viewer is a stand-alone application that does not require an installation, but in some circumstances no external applications whatsoever are permitted. Hence, it might come up a need for exporting to AVI from Ethiris Viewer. With Ethiris VMS 10.0 this is now possible.Enhanced OPC Server for Modbus
Kentima has for a long time offered the market an OPC Server for Modbus that can be used for communication between Ethiris and various systems via Modbus. Now, we have extended the number of different data types supported by the OPC Server, which means that we for example can fetch temperature values from FLIR’s various temperature sensors with image (thermal cameras), such as AX8 and A310.New events from Ethiris Client
Ethiris VMS contains an advanced script engine that provides huge possibilites to customize a system to fit the customer’s requirements. In Ethiris all scripts are executed on the server side, in Ethiris Server. The scripts are often based on automatic events such as recording of video or controlling a PTZ camera upon motion in front of the camera. But, sometimes you want to execute a script whenever an operator does something in Ethiris Client. With the new version of Ethiris this is far simpler.Device Presets
Preset positions in a PTZ camera is a common way to make the operator’s work more efficient. A preset position is simply a named position for a PTZ camera that the operator can activate in various ways from Ethiris Client, for example by connecting the position to a button. Preset positions can of course also be activated automatically based on various events in the facility and they are also used for creating PTZ tours. Now, Ethiris has also support for so called Device presets for Axis cameras and cameras connected via ONVIF. Device presets are stored in the cameras themselves and Ethiris needs only to keep track of the name for each position.
Client configurations as favorites
When starting Ethiris Client the latest used client configuration is automatically loaded. The probability is high that this configuration is the one you want to use. But, sometimes you want to switch configuration and there are a number of different ways to do that. One way is to use previously created shortcuts, but the most common way is to simply open a new configuration from within the client. The latter way has now become considerably easier since you can add your favorite configurations in advance. It is especially advantageous if you often switch configuration.Enhanced File object
The File object can be used for reading and writing from/to files via Ethiris script. In the new version we have enhanced the object such as it is easier to use and furthermore we have made the documentation of the object in the Admin manual much clearer.Other news
There are new PTZ commands for controlling PTZ cameras and digital PTZ. You can go directly from the Instant replay window to the Player with current camera and current timestamp automatically loaded. We have also introduced new shortcut keys in the Player to be able to control playback from the keyboard.Download Ethiris VMS broshure, News 10.0 (pdf)...
