The latest version includes a new feature to create a redundant system, greatly improved performance as well as several other important news that give Ethiris a unique position in the market. While Ethiris version 6 is extremely powerful, it is very easy to use and can also be used for smaller applications.

REDUNDANCY

One of the great innovations of version 6 is the possibility of redundancy. Ethiris version 6 can continue to run the system without loss of function even if one or more servers go down. Other servers will automatically direct tasks from the server going down and the clients will automatically retrieve the images from the correct servers. The redundancy feature in Ethiris is called "Cluster" and means that several Ethiris servers are merged into a cluster that outwardly behaves like a single server.

The redundancy feature brings great benefits that you can take advantage of, for instance basic load balancing can be automatically distributed by one and the same configuration across multiple server computers. It also makes it easier to administer a large configuration, in that it does not need to be distributed among multiple servers. All this is automatically taken care of by the cluster.
Optimisation of viewing of video

In Ethiris version 6 viewing of video is optimised, leading to up to 150 % higher performance. This means that the load on the client and server computers will drop significantly with version 6, alternatively, many more camera views can be displayed and/or the frame rate be increased. The degree of improvement of performance depends on the computer hardware, camera resolution, frame rate and video compression method. The greatest improvement of performance is noticed for HD cameras.

Internal server monitoring

Kentima has introduced an internal monitoring of Ethiris Server to detect if something is wrong and, if necessary, restart Ethiris Server automatically. The service monitors that the program starts correctly and is up and running, which means that any stops of recording of video are shortened.

• Optimisation of the scripting engine for faster execution and complete handling of Unicode characters.
• Optimisation of transmission of live images to minimise the time spread between images. It gives an even flow of pictures and a better experience viewing video.
• Maximum number of cameras for a Premium server has increased from 80 to 100 cameras.
• A new Debug window has been created. It means that debug prints from scripts can be shown, which makes trouble shooting of script substantially easier.
• Increased functionality of the Watch window. Now it is even possible to update values of different variables directly in the Watch window. This also makes testing and trouble shooting of different functions in Ethiris much easier.
