Ethiris Alarm Central Services
With Kentima's alarm central services, you can feel confident that your facility is monitored around the clock and protected against unwelcome visits. Together with advanced camera analysis, Kentima's video surveillance system Ethiris responds to intrusions in a flash and sends alarms to the alarm center.
Ethiris ACS is a subscription service for connecting systems with Ethiris VMS/NVR to an alarm central in Scandinavia. The purpose is to achieve monitoring of their facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even when staff are not on site. The monitoring takes place through alarm verification by professional alarm operators who, via live and recorded video from the facility, assess whether an intrusion has taken place and take agreed measures, such as calling on security guards.
Redundant connection to the alarm center
To ensure that all alarms in a system reach the alarm central, there are both primary and secondary communication paths. Should for any reason the alarm transmission via the primary channel fail, the system will automatically use the secondary channel.
Prerequisites for connection
The only thing that is technically needed to connect an Ethiris system to the alarm central is license level Premium, version 12 or later and that the system is available via an IP address that the alarm central can connect to to watch video.
It does not have to be a fixed public IP address but can be a dynamic address that the alarm central can, for example, reach via a DNS service. Kentima has such a service , called Ethiris Access Service, to make it easier for those customers who want it. Link to Ethiris Access Service >>
Alarm generation
In Ethiris there are lots of different ways to generate alarms. A common way in these contexts is to use the cameras' built-in video analysis. Ethiris can receive this analysis in several different ways, but the most common is to use ONVIF Events or ONVIF Metadata. It is also possible to use other conditions to generate alarms, for example via digital inputs where external detection equipment such as IR detectors have been connected. Communication with access control systems or intruder alarms can be another source of alarm generation in Ethiris.
Associated cameras
Each alarm definition in Ethiris can be associated with one or more cameras. The alarm that is sent to the alarm central from Ethiris, via a so-called SIA message, includes a list of associated cameras that are automatically presented to the alarm operator that handles the alarm. The alarm operators prefer that only one camera is associated with each alarm to know directly which camera to focus on. Of course, there may be times when more than one camera is suitable to associate with an alarm, for example if they are directed towards the same surface from different directions. However, there is nothing to prevent several different alarms that can be sent to the alarm central being defined in Ethiris with its respective associated cameras.
The subscription service includes the cameras in the facility that are associated with alarms that can be sent to the alarm central. In order for an alarm to be sent to the alarm central, you need to select an SIA code.
If no SIA code is selected, no alarm will be sent to the alarm central when the alarm is activated.
In the example above, two cameras are associated with the alarm and will thus be counted in the number of cameras that are connected. Only the number of unique cameras counts, so if the same camera is associated with multiple alarms, the camera only counts once.
